Good day folks, My inbox has been hit with a flurry of requests from people asking for me to send them the text files used in our translations. I generally prefer not to give them out as I've seen a few of ours used by lesser known groups without even crediting us. This, to me, is a no go in my books. From my point of view, call me anarchistic if you want, why should we just hand out our work to another group so that they can just slap the text file into their encoder and claim they 'translated' it? Anyway, I'm not the person you should be asking for subs anyway. You'll just get a flat NO from me. If you absolutely need them, please e-mail lad/mace at - doremi.fansubs (a@t) gmail.com My e-mail inbox (martelle [at] doremi-fansubs.com) is for general inquiries, comments, and site related matters only. Specific requests can also be sent to it, but translation file requests go to the above mentioned e-mail address.

1. Written by PsychicKid, on 10-02-2008 11:16 Mike is correct. A group of anime pirates based in Canada (if I recall correctly) have been stealing our fansubs of Ojamajo Doremi Season 1, editing them down to match the 4kids version in terms of video, then slapping the 4kids dub track on it. They then take the finished product and put them on DVD for dumb people to buy. I've seen such an episode (Episode 29, "The Tap Disappeared at the Festival!" [Doremi-Fansubs] / "It Takes a Thief" [4kids]) on Veoh pirated in such a manner. Honestly I'm completely against giving anyone outside the group our translations. Why would they need them other than for stealing our work?

2. Written by Kai, on 10-02-2008 16:31 I agree on that point, if there are people who even illegally sell your subs. But most of the time, it's just people who claim they want to translate into other languages. Anyway if it was me I would think twice too so I don't blame you guys.

3. Written by zden, on 18-02-2008 03:59 There are even companies who legally licensed the anime and use other fansubs and claim it as their own works.. selling to TV/Cable stations too... I prefer group to retain their own subs or share with fansub group that is handling other language and release mkv format so that it can contain several languages together

5. Written by CureWhite, on 27-02-2008 20:50 I agree whole heartedly in not sharing information such as this. It is way too easy to steal. My question is though why would someone choose to use your subtitles for another language version? Isn't that cheating as well? It's lazy and it can cause problems. Anybody who has worked with different languages before knows that meanings can get lost in translation and you just try your best to convey the concept in the translation, but when you take a translation and TRANSLATE that even MORE is lost. The farther you get from the original source material in this way, the more that is going to get lost and the fans ultimately suffer. That is not to say that any translating group is not doing their best to do the best translation they can come up with, but well.. I just feel it's wrong not come back to the original material.
